Local Flavor - New Belgium Brewing

Colorado is well known for its craft breweries. New Belgium Brewing is arguably one of the best. They are located in Fort Collins about an hour north of Denver. While they make the beer here, the owners have done a great job in creating an environment where its fun to drink the beer as well.

The grounds around the brewery are well landscaped and provide many areas to enjoy a beverage in the sunshine. There is a nice area with tables, grass and trees right by the front door. Walking inside brings you to the tap room and gift shop. Going through the tap room brings you back outside to the Rolle Bolle game area. Players take turns rolling a heavy rubber puck down a concrete half pipe. The idea is to have the puck stop before it goes over the end line. The game is a fun, or maybe that's the house specialty talking.

Speaking of beer, tours of the facility are offered, but they fill up fast. Self guided tours are also available. While their beers, like Fat Tire and VooDoo Ranger, are distributed all over the country, there are always a few varieties that you can only get on-site. Also, New Belgium is an employee owned company, so tipping is not allowed in the tap room.
